Kids and Cars: What MADD
Says Must Happen to Keep
Children Safe ]
This month the National
SAFE KIDS Campaign announced
that 27 states have upgraded
child occupant protection
laws since 2001. This is
great progress, however,
the report also shows that
most state laws still do
not cover booster age children.
MADD plans to unveil recommended
solutions to child endangerment:adults
driving drunk with children
in the vehicle.

MADD President Testifies
on Underage Drinking: Your
Support Needed ]
On February 11, MADD President
Wendy Hamilton testified
on the America's worst youth
drug problem - underage
drinking - before the US
House Subcommittee on Education
Reform. The fact that Anheuser-Busch
also testified and opposes
science-based action on
underage drinking is a indication
of the uphill battle MADD
faces. As Ms. Hamilton
said, "The alcohol
industry has used its influence
to keep the underage drinking
issue off of Congress' 'to-do
list,' but their stall tactics
are weakening. We will
not rest until the health
and safety of our youth
is a top priority for our
nation and its leaders."
