2005
Dear my sister, Barbara,
Thank you for coming and supporting for MADD Japan.
I really appreciate for accepting our invitation, in spite of your busy and tight schedule of your family trip on our behalf.I know your niece Suzanne and my daughter Mizuho are in honor of the memory ,together.

Mizuho's life was sacrificed but she has brought me the precious friends over the ocean with MADD. As a mother of her, I am proud of my daughter.
MADD Japan has a great opportunity to learn about Victim Support Program from the specialist, Barbara to make a difference in Japan.

MADD is a highly respected organization by most people in the USA.
Unfortunately, faced with a lack of understanding in Japan about-non victim volunteer-and the awareness, it is hard to spread the MADD way. However, Cabinet members, prefectural government staff , Police and media expressed their enthusiasm to know more about MADD activities.
Right now, we are trying to set up chapters form Hokkaido in the north down to Okinawa in the south. Japan is also the key country of Asia. MADD Japan realizes that we should shoulder the responsibility to solve the Drunk Driving problems of Asian countries.
Drunk Driving is a violent crime and must be stopped. I think of how the wounded hearts of many people from different countries and different cultures have bonded in friendship and love with MADD. I am sure that instead of an empty chair and memories because of our good work there will be smiling faces and futures to fulfill.
We are proud of being a family members of MADD.
Barbara, you are our precious sister.
Thanks again.
Kazuyo Iida , President of MADD Japan

Symposium on Preventing Drunk Driving, Okinawa
From 13:30 - 16:00 Friday, March 18, 2005

How companies can eliminate drunk driving - The Challenges companies face and measures for prevention.
The General Insurance Association of Japan (hereafter "the GIAJ") has been proactively involved in various traffic accident prevention activities. As a new kind of activity, this time we have decided to hold a drunk driving symposium in Okinawa prefecture under the auspices of the Okinawa Independent Insurance Agents Association, MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) Japan on March 18, 2005. The event is supported by the local government of Okinawa prefecture, the Okinawa Prefectural Police and the Okinawa Traffic Safety Association.
Even though everyone knows the phrase "if you drink, donユt drive," traffic accidents due to drunk driving have not yet been eliminated and tragic accidents happen all the time. The number of traffic accidents due to drunk driving per 100,000 driving license holders in Okinawa prefecture was the worst among the 47 Japanese prefectures in 2003. In fact, it was double the national average.
This symposium is aimed at reinforcing the GIAJ's traffic accident prevention activities by focusing on prevention of drunk driving.

【Who should attend】
 - Managers and Senior Executives who are responsible for safe driving, corporate social responsibility (CSR) and labor management
 - People who are interested in prevention of drunk driving

【Program】
 13:30 Opening Address
Mr. Terumasa Hasagawa, Managing Director, GIAJ

 13:35 Keynote Speech

15:55 Closing Address
Mr. Ichiro Shibata

【Venue】
Room "NIRAI-KANAI" 6th Floor
Kariyushi Urban Resort, Naha
For access map and location, please refer to following URL
www.kariyushi.co.jp

【Other Information】
- Posters used overseas that are aimed at preventing drunk driving will be exhibited in the room "NIRAI-KANAI".
- You can experience a simulation of being drunk using "Fatal Vision"* at the venue.
* Fatal Vision is a specially designed and manufactured pair of goggles that simulates the visual impairment caused by alcohol or other drugs. Viewing through the goggles is rather clear, but confusing to the mind. The wearer experiences a loss of equilibrium, which is one of the effects of intoxication. Both the wearer and those observing are convinced that such impairment makes activities with known risks, such a driving vehicles, very dangerous.

It has inspired the community to support MADD's cause, which is very significant.
It truly is honor to be a part of MADD family.
As Wendy J. Hamilton National President says,
"If we say nothing, if we do nothing, we change nothing. Together, we can change the world."
I am looking forward to seeing you again in Washington, DC on September 29, 2005.
